70% isopropyl alcohol is the concentration recommended for surface disinfection — higher percentages evaporate too fast to fully kill microbes. Everything above 70% is marketing.

Why 70% isopropyl alcohol and not 91% or 99%?
Counterintuitively, 70% is more effective as a disinfectant than 91% or 99%. Higher concentrations evaporate too quickly to fully denature microbial cell walls, and the water content in 70% actually helps drive the alcohol into the cell. 91%+ is better for electronics/cleaning residues, but 70% is the correct choice for disinfecting surfaces and equipment.
Can these pads be used on skin?
The product is packaged and sold as a laboratory research consumable, not a personal care product or medical device. If you're looking for pre-injection skin prep, use an FDA-regulated product from a pharmacy.
How long does an individual sealed pad stay usable?
Sealed pads are rated for 36 months from the manufacture date printed on the box. Store at room temperature away from direct heat.
